NEW DELHI: Approximately 96,000 vaccinators have been trained for the Covid vaccination program, which the government plans to launch in January once the vaccine is approved.
State governments, district officials and municipal commissioners were asked to provide ground staff, logistics and IT systems to carry out the action aimed at covering the “priority population” of 30 million by July.
In a high-level meeting with all states and UTs on Thursday, the Center urged them to ensure effective training. A dry race will be held by all states and UT on January 2. “The activity is proposed to take place in all state capitals in at least three session places. Some states will also include districts that are located on difficult terrain or have poor logistics. Support,” an official said. The Covid Vaccine Medicines Regulatory Expert is scheduled to meet on 1 January to consider emergency use authorization for the Covishield Serum Institute of India and Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
