Launching a harsh attack on the BJP over farmers’ protests against the three central agricultural laws, SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal on Tuesday called the saffron party “the real tukde tukde gang” and accused it of putting Hindus against Sikhs in Punjab. .
Claiming that “the BJP has put the Hindus against Muslims for the first time”, Badal said the party had “become the strongest dividing force” to “restore its bad game in the Punjab”.
Asking his former ally to avoid the “arrogant attitude” on farm laws and to accept what farmers want, Badal warned the BJP against any attempt to pit the Hindus against the Sikhs.
He said that if someone speaks in favor of the central government, he is called “Desh Bhakt” and, if he speaks out against it, he is marked as a “tukde tukde gang”.
“BJP is the real #TukdeTukdeGang in the country. It shattered national unity to pieces, shamelessly inciting Hindus against Muslims and now desperately establishing peace-loving Punjabi Hindus against their Sikh brothers esp #farmers. I am pushing the patriotic Punjab into community flames “, Badal claimed in a tweet.
SAD has renounced the Democratic National Alliance because of agricultural laws. SAD leader Harsimrat Kaur Badal has resigned as EU minister.
Later, in a statement, Badal claimed that the BJP “divided the country into pieces, establishing one community against another.”
“The power is so desperate that it has no scruples about taking the communal polarization path and setting the country on communal flames,” he claimed.
“For the first time, the BJP has pitted Hindus against Muslims. Now, he is determined to play the same bad game and stage the same tragedy in Punjab, ”he claimed.
“He conspires to put our peace-loving Hindu brothers in Punjab against their Sikh brothers with whom they have shared strong blood ties for centuries. The BJP wants to replace those blood ties with bloodshed, “he said.
He warned the BJP against any attempt to incite the “brothers” against each other.
The SAD leader accused the saffron party of resorting to “dangerous conspiracies to sabotage the atmosphere of peace and community harmony only for the achievement of petty political goals.”
“The BJP leadership must realize that their party today has become the strongest divisive force. He resorted to dividing the country and its people by spreading hatred in the name of religion, “he said.
Shiromani leader Akali Dal called on the BJP-led Center to avoid an “arrogant attitude”.
“Those who drafted (agricultural) laws have never been involved in agricultural activities. The central government is acting on what its officers say, “he added.
Referring to the ongoing agitation of farmers over the three agricultural laws, Badal said: “The whole country, with the exception of the BJP, gratefully acknowledges our debt to our farmers and our patriotic soldiers.” “The BJP is challenging people to reject this debt. He only believes in the emotional exploitation of farmers’ sacrifices, but he remains so ungrateful to them that he paints them as anti-national.
“It simply came to our notice then. No one knows what the BJP could say even about soldiers tomorrow if it suits them. Farmers are hurt and angry with the BJP, ”he said.
Badal said it was shocking and unbelievable that a party that claimed to be proud of India’s legacy was determined to “destroy” the foundations of the same legacy.
Thousands of farmers in Punjab, Haryana and elsewhere have protested near various border points in Delhi, including Singhu and Tikri, for more than two weeks, demanding the Center repeal three new agricultural laws.
