BJP MP Tejaswi Surya has strongly criticized the naming of roads after Muslim MPs. He has asked the Bangalore Corporation to consider the names of non-Muslim grits in Muslim-majority areas. The MP said there was no shortage of non-Muslim dignitaries and devotees in the country and the streets should be named after them.

Following the news in a Kannada newspaper, the Bengaluru South MP wrote a letter to the Commissioner of the Greater Bengaluru Municipal Corporation (BBMP), N Manjunath Prasad, asking that the road be named after non-Muslims. Tejaswi Surya said the BBMP only suggested the names of Muslims.

‘Double thinking’
MP Tejaswi Surya said naming roads in Muslim-majority areas is a two-state solution. This is the same caste approach when the Muslim League demanded separate voter lists for Hindus and Muslims. This is a dangerous idea and should be condemned.
