Covid: Etihad updates PCR testing rules for India-UAE passengers – News

The test result must also have a QR code.

Effective today, April 22, 2021, travelers from India to the United Arab Emirates must take a Covid-19 PCR test no later than 48 hours before departure.

According to the latest update posted on the Etihad Airways website, the negative test result must be issued by an authorized clinic or an accredited laboratory in India.

The test result must also have a QR code.

The rule does not apply to those under the age of 12 and to passengers in transit. Those with disabilities are also exempt, the Etihad Airways website added.

The 48-hour PCR test rule has been announced for the first time for passengers in India flying to Dubai.

Emirates, flydubai and Indian carriers announced the rule change on April 19.

As India is embroiled in a second deadly wave of the coronavirus crisis and the country’s hospitals are running out of beds and oxygen supplies, at least eight countries around the world have announced travel bans and restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
