Google Home Max pays $ 179 and then disappears

After three years and a million “Hey Google”, the Google Home Max smart speaker is gone, although if you have one, you’ll still receive support for the foreseeable future.

“We sold out of Google Home Max and will no longer manufacture the device,” a Google spokesman confirmed in a statement following a previous Engadget report. “With the launch of Nest Audio, we offer a wide range of home audio solutions, especially with two associated Nest audio for stereo sound.”

Google has moved most of its smart speakers to the Nest brand and now offers the smaller ones Google Nest Mini and Nest Audio. Home Max’s closest competitors in terms of size are the Sonos Five for $ 499 (which lacks a microphone) and the Amazon Echo Studio for $ 200. However, both speakers probably sound better than Max.

Google Home Max is a great device compared to most smart speakers, which means it’s only suitable for side tables or TV stands, and while the product started at $ 399, it’s now selling for $ 179 or $ 180. If you want one, you’d better hurry: it’s sold to Google itself Verizon still has stock, as well as PC Richard and a few other places if you hunt around.
