January 1 is not only the beginning of a new year for Vidya Balan, but also her birthday. However, this time, it will be a different kind of celebration for the actor on her special day, as she rightly observes that the world itself has changed against the background of the pandemic.
“This year, obviously, we will not have a party, it will be just a family, because no one feels safe going out and then agreeing and the limited number of people, all these are there,” says Balan, who turns today 42 years old.
There may not be a big celebration, but that prevents the actor from having a wish for her birthday.
“It will be a different start to the year, but I think there is great hope, that the year will be kinder and I feel that we hope so. Every time I hear people say, “Lord, how much this world will take from us,” I think that’s not my feeling. I know what people mean when I say that because it was a difficult one. But I really feel that for me, a new year will be gentler and kinder for us “, she adds.
And hope is something that Balan does not give up. “Normally, they say break before the storm, but I hope that 2021 will be the break after the storm. Everything will be sun and happiness again “, she says.
While the actor is looking forward to the new year, she says that there are important dishes for her from last year.
“Who knows what will happen tomorrow, that made the pandemic realize that we have to live today. There has been a recalibration of life in general. The facets of our lives have changed. We all try to return to what was normal for us, but we are not there yet, the pandemic is still a reality “, she explains.
Balan also believes that there has been a change of priorities in our lives. “We are capable of much more than we thought we were, this is a huge achievement for many people. And, in spite of everything, I saw human resistance, the spirit of human resistance growing and shining ”.
Last year, Balan saw an OTT release with Shakuntala Devi, a Natkhat short film, and also filmed for her film, Sherni in the Pandemic.
“We tried to do everything we could to normalize the situation. I don’t think we can do that. I fired for Sherni. I started the film before the pandemic, I finished it when things started and I’m very proud to say that I didn’t have a Covid case. It was not easy to follow so many protocols while working. That’s why I say resistance. Ab kaam ho raha hai toh hum kaam karenge, whatever it takes, peheke kaam karenge mask “, she concludes.
