How to watch Netflix or Amazon Prime for free this weekend

Today is the last day of 2020 and, although many of us may well give up, given the rules of social distancing, the big holidays are very unlikely. If you are planning a quiet way to celebrate New Year’s Eve 2021, there are plenty of streaming services to consider. But more importantly, if you resisted paying for any of them, there are several ways to access big names for free like Disney + Hotstar, Netflix, Zee5 and Amazon Prime Video.

Here’s how to try to get free access to Netflix, Disney + Hotstar or Amazon Prime this weekend in early 2021.

How to get Netflix for free this new year

Netflix offered a one-month free trial, but it stopped. There was also Netflix StreamFest in December, which offered the service for free for two days. Unlike other services, most telecommunications do not offer Netflix for free as an option. However, the VI (formerly Vodafone-Idea) only does this if you sign up for a new postpaid connection and get the RedX plan or higher.

The RedX plan, which starts at Rs 1099 per month and includes a six-month lock-in period, comes with a year of free Netflix. The plan offers a one-year Netflix on TV and mobile, worth Rs 5988 per year, which is the amount of one year for the plan starting from Rs 499.

Once you get the Vodafone connection, you can get the Netflix offer by setting up a new account or an existing Netflix account. The amount is credited directly to your Netflix account and you will be able to benefit from this free service for one year. You can also opt for the more expensive plans on Netflix, but this credited amount will run out faster. Anyone with an existing RedX plan can also benefit from the free Netflix offer.

Jio also offers free Netflix subscription with all its postpaid plans, but this is limited to the most basic subscription exclusively for mobile devices, which is the basic Rs 199 plan. To activate Netflix, customers must install the MyJio app on their phones and then connect with JioPostPaid Plus credentials and click “Activate Now” on the Netflix banner on the app’s home page.

After that, you must connect to Netflix with an existing Netflix account or create a new one, and Netflix will be activated instantly.

Finally, there is always a solution to ask your friends or family members for the Netflix password, provided they feel generous. Just ask for their username and password and get started. But remember, even with the highest plan, only four screens can be live simultaneously.

How to get Amazon Prime Video, Disney + Hotstar and Zee5 for free

Amazon Prime Video and Disney + Hostar allow you to try their app for free. But you will only get access for one month, after which you will have to pay the subscription. Amazon Prime Video costs Rs 999 per year or Rs 129 per month. The Disney + Hotstar VIP service costs Rs 499 per year, while the Premium service costs Rs 1499 per year.

If you plan to use them only for the weekend, there is still a lot of content to watch. But users must provide their bank card details to authorize the free trial period. Don’t worry, the amount will not be deducted from your bank account. When the free plan ends, OTT apps will ask you to pay, and if you don’t want to pay, you can unsubscribe.

But the good thing about these three streaming services is that many telecommunications group their subscriptions for free with their plans. Here’s a look at some of the plans.

If you are a postpaid Jio user, then the company offers access to free Amazon Prime and Disney + Hotstar VIP subscriptions as part of these plans. Jio postpaid plans start at Rs 399 and reach Rs 1,499 and all have the same benefits in terms of access to these streaming services.

Regarding the Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription, Jio’s page explains that a customer must connect to the Disney + Hotstar application with the same mobile phone number. After successful connection, you can enjoy all the benefits of the Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription. Remember, VIP does not provide access to English content on Disney + Hotstar, including Disney + originals.

Jio also says that in order to continue to obtain the Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription for one year, the user must have a continuous active postpaid plan plus from the company. The annual subscription will start on the date of purchase of the eligible plan.

For Amazon Prime, Jio offers a free one-year subscription to all eligible postpaid plans. The function is offered on all postpaid plans if you follow the details on Jio’s pages. Customers can benefit from a one-year Amazon Prime subscription, worth Rs 999, at no extra cost. After one year, customers will be automatically charged for the annual Prime subscription at the predominant market price, explains the Jio page.

For postpaid Airtel users, all plans starting at Rs 499 and above come with a free Amazon Prime subscription for one year, which is worth Rs 999. Plans also include free access to the Disney + Hotstar VIP subscription for one year.

Prepaid Airtel users can buy a Rs 289 plan, which comes with ZEE5 Premium subscription, unlimited calls and 1.5 GB per day data. Comes with a validity of 28 days. There is also a Rs 349 prepaid plan, which includes an Amazon Prime subscription for one month, 2 GB data per day, unlimited calls and 100 daily SMS for 28 days. Airtel also has an exclusive plan of Rs 400, which comes with free access to Disney + Hotstar VIP for one year.
