“Kolkata Knight Riders captain Ian Morgan was found guilty of slow over rate during the match against Chennai. This is the first case of slow over rate for the team under the IPL code of conduct this season and a fine of Rs 12 lakh has been imposed,” the IPL said in a statement.
Under the revised rules of the IPL, the team captain has been fined Rs 12 lakh in the first case of slow over speed. The match may also be suspended for the next time such a mistake is repeated.
According to IPL guidelines, the team captain will be fined Rs 12 lakh for slow over rate in the first match. In the second match, the fine will be doubled (Rs 24 lakh) and each member of the playing XI will be fined 25 per cent of the match fee or Rs 6 lakh (whichever is less).
If the offender commits the offense for the third time in a season, he will have to pay Rs 1 lakh and face a one-match ban, while the remaining members of the playing XI will be fined Rs 12 lakh. Or 50% of match fee (whichever is less)
CSK beat KKR by 18 runs on Wednesday night with the help of Faf Duplessis’ unbeaten 95 and Deepak Chahar’s four wickets. In this big-scoring match, CSK scored 220 for 3, while KKR scored 202 in reply.
