The actor who became a politician and the head of Makkal Needhi Maiam, Kamal Haasan, signaled on Tuesday an amicable solution to the question of whether he will be prepared for an alliance with the actor Rajinikanth. “We are just on a phone call. If our ideology is similar and benefits people, we are ready to put our egos aside and cooperate with each other, “Haasan told reporters when asked if he would join hands with Rajinikanth.
Haasan had already alluded to the realignment of political alliances in Tamil Nadu ahead of next year’s election, while not ruling out a possible link with actor Rajinikanth, who is due to float his party soon.
The actor of South Indian origin launched his campaign for the elections in the assembly in Tamil Nadu in 2021 on December 13, starting his first phase of the campaign on December 13-16. During this four-day program, Haasan will cover Madurai, Theni, Dindugul, Virudhunagar, Tirunelveli, Tuticorin and Kanniyakumari districts.
Haasan launched the MNM in February 2018, and the party faced last year’s elections for Lok Sabha, but was unable to return any parliamentarians.
