Mahindra XUV700 AX7 Smart without ADAS Release soon

Although the prices have not been officially revealed, the new AX7 Smart variant of the Mahindra XUV700 will be more affordable than the top AX7 equipment.

Mahindra will launch a more affordable AX7 version of the XUV700. Named the AX7 Smart, this mid-size SUV variant will come without ADAS (Advanced Driver Assist Systems) and a few other features. This variant will be launched to ease the demand and to reduce the long waiting period that XUV700 buyers face.

As we all know, the car industry has long been facing an acute shortage of semiconductor chips, which has largely hampered car production. AX7 top elements receive ADAS as a standard feature that requires a very large amount of semiconductor chips.

It is also one of the most requested models and therefore the expectation has increased up to 8-10 months. Mahindra has now received over 70,000 bookings for the XUV700. To reduce long delays and waiting times, the carmaker will introduce this variant in the range that will be delivered to buyers at a faster rate.

Existing customers who booked XUV700 will be allowed to change their reservations for AX7 Smart. However, it will be interesting to see how Mahindra manages to take new orders for this variant with an existing load of imminent orders. Through a leaked image, we find out what features the company will offer in the AX7 Smart version.

Features offered in the AX7 Smart version

In terms of features, the AX7 Smart will be loaded with gadgets such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 10.25-inch digital instrument console, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, technology for AdrenoX connected cars with a 2-year subscription, built-in Alexa voice assistance, 360-degree camera, blind monitoring, car headlight lift and more.

The safety features provided will include ABS with EBD, six airbags, cornering lamps and ISOFIX seat supports. Other features included in the AX7 Smart package include full LED lighting, cruise control, electrically adjustable ORVM, a panoramic sunroof, smart door handles and 18-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels to name a few.

Missed features

However, the AX7 Smart will also lose some features, including ADAS, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Slope Stop Assist, Slope Control, Knee Airbags, Driving Modes, Electric Door Handles with keyless passive entry and electronic parking brake. among others. It also gets rid of the cordless phone charger and the driver detection direction.

The XUV700 engine has two engine options – a 2.0-liter mStallion petrol turbo mill and a 2.2-liter mHawk diesel engine. The petrol unit offers 197 hp and a maximum torque of 380 Nm. On the other hand, the oil burner pushes 182 hp and 450 Nm (420 Nm in MT) of maximum torque. The basic diesel MX variant produces 153 hp and 360 Nm. Both engines are available with either a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission.
