Mushfiqur Rahim fined 25% of the match fee for misconduct on the field Cricket News

DHAKA: Counterguard of Bangladesh Mushfiqur Rahim was fined 25% of his match fees for the violation BCB Code of Conduct during Bangabandhu T20 Cup Eliminator 2020.
Mushfiqur, who captains Beximco Dhaka, angrily made a threatening gesture towards teammate Nasum Ahmed on Monday after both crickets chased the ball for a catch that was eventually taken by the goalkeeper.
The guard’s handkerchief was found guilty of insulting Ahmed during the match against Fortune Barishal, which is a level 1 offense (2.6).
“In addition to the sanction imposed, a demerit point has been added to the player’s disciplinary file,” Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said in an official statement.
“According to Article 7.5 of the Code, if Mushfiqur reaches four (04) or more demerit points in the tournament, the points will then be converted into the suspension of the match and he will be banned. Four demerit points is equivalent to a ban from one (01) match “, he also read the statement.
Level 1 violations involve a minimum official warning penalty and a maximum fine of 50 percent of a player’s match fees and one or two demerit points.
Mushfiqur accepted the sanction and, as such, no formal hearing was required. He also apologized for his insulting remarks on his Facebook page on Tuesday morning.
“First of all, I would like to officially apologize to all my fans and spectators about the incident that happened yesterday during the match,” Mushfiqur said.
“I have already apologized after the match to my teammate Nasum. Secondly, I seek forgiveness from the Almighty. I always remember that I am a human being above all and the gesture I showed was not at all acceptable, “he added.
Beximco Dhaka defeated Fortune Barishal by nine rounds in the Eliminator.
