Chennai: NASA has approved two missions to explore the Sun and the space-time system near Earth. These two missions are the Epsilon Mission or EUVST high-speed ultraviolet spectroscopic telescope and the Zeeman Imaging Explorer or EZIE Electrojet. The Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) is conducting the Epsilon Mission (Solar-C EUVST Mission) of the high-efficiency ultraviolet (EUVST) spectroscopic telescope together with other international partners. Aimed for launch in 2026, EUVST is a solar telescope that will study how the solar atmosphere releases solar wind and causes solar flares. EZIE will launch no earlier than June 2024, NASA said the mission’s total budget is $ 53.3 million.
