Haasan (left) said that if the ideology is similar, his party is ready to “cooperate” with Rajinikanth’s party for the upcoming Tamil Nadu elections.

Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) chief Kamal Haasan suggested on Tuesday that he was open to a political alliance with actor Rajinikanth who is set to make his political debut in polls scheduled for next year’s assembly in Tamil Nadu.

Speaking to reporters, Haasan said that if there are no ideological differences between them, his party is ready to “cooperate.” “Political change is needed. We’re just on a phone call. If our ideology is similar and it would benefit people, we are ready to put our egos aside and cooperate with each other, ”he said.

Ever since Rajinikanth announced that his party would contest the upcoming elections in Tamil Nadu, he has been receiving bouquets and brick bats from the state’s political brotherhood.

Earlier this month, AIADMK coordinator and Tamil Nadu Deputy Prime Minister O Panneerselvam also expressed willingness to get involved with the actor’s party.

“We welcome the decision of actor Rajinikanth to enter politics. In politics, anything can happen. If there is an opportunity, an alliance will be formed (with Rajinikanth), ”he said. Meanwhile, AIADMK has confirmed that it will continue its alliance with the BJP for the upcoming assembly elections.

Rajinikanth will reveal the name of his political party on December 31.

In a statement, he said: “Everything is fate. These elections will change the fate of Tamil Nadu … If I win, this will be a victory for the people, and if I fail, it belongs to them too … I will change everything, everything! “

The Tamil superstar fueled speculation about his party’s inclinations by introducing Ra Arjunamurthy, former president of the intellectual wing of the BJP state unit, as chief coordinator of his fan association. Arjunamurthy was released from his post earlier.

In 2017, Rajinikanth had announced that his party would contest alone. Now that he is actually launching the party, it seems that in 2021 he will not enter into an alliance either.
