Leaving Chelsea, Danny Drinkwater does not favor Tottenham Hotspur in PL 2
It would be an understatement to say that Chelsea, signed by Danny Drinkwater, did not work in favor of the club.
Along with N’Golo Kante, Drinkwater played a key role in Leicester City’s 2015/16 Premier League title. While Kante moved to Bridge in 2016, Drinkwater will follow a year later.
While the Frenchman proved to be a master stroke of a signature, Drinkwater was nothing but. He made four appearances this season, none of them for the first team. (h / t Transfermarkt)
Drinkwater’s fall from grace since moving to Chelsea was quick and difficult to follow. Last night against Tottenham Hotspur U23 in Premier League 2, he managed to get down to another level.
According to the Daily Mail, Drinkwater received his marching orders in the 77th minute because he fired the teenage midfielder Alfie Devine.
In the night, Petr Cech returned to the goal for Chelsea and we overturned a 2-0 deficit, Drinkwater made the title for all the wrong reasons. It is fair to say that he set a weak example for his young teammates.
Although it can be argued that Devine caused the incident with his two-legged equipment at Drinkwater, the blues midfielder could have dealt with this issue by showing more restraint.
His throw provoked a mass struggle between the two sides. And Devine received his marching orders with Chelsea midfielder.

Drinkwater did not make an appearance in the first team for us in 2018. The club was eager to sell him in the summer, but could not find any suitors.
At 30, Drinkwater has time to pursue his career elsewhere. It’s hard to see that he still has a future at the Bridge. We hope that this troubled marriage will end sooner rather than later.
