The UK registers another Covid case daily with over 55,000 new infections

The UK has reported a further number of coronavirus cases since the pandemic began.

As of 9:00 a.m. Thursday, there were another 55,892 confirmed cases of coronavirus laboratory in the UK.

Just two days ago, the number of cases that was considered the highest daily total since the beginning of the pandemic was 53,135.

Today’s number brings the total number of cases in the UK to 2,488,780.

Another 964 people died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Thursday, bringing the UK total to 73,512.

Separate figures released by UK statistical agencies for deaths in which Covid-19 was mentioned on the death certificate, along with additional data on deaths in recent days, show that there were now 89,000 deaths involving Covid. -19 in the UK.

Dr Yvonne Doyle, England’s director of public health, said: “We know that the vast majority of deaths reported today are people who have unfortunately died in the last few days. Every life lost by this disease is a sadness. It is imperative that we take action now to protect our families and friends.

“We all had to make huge sacrifices this year, but please make sure you keep your distance from others, wash your hands and wear a mask. A New Year’s Eve will mean that you significantly reduce your social contacts and can help you stop the spread of the virus. “
