The Indian Premier League franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad made a big announcement on Tuesday, when they named the former Australian cricketer and the famous coach Tom Moody as cricket director. This is a quick return to the SRH camp for the Australian who previously served as the franchise’s coach for 7 seasons, leading them to the title in 2016 and guiding the team to the final in 2018.
The franchise took to Twitter to make the announcement and wrote: “@TomMoodyCricket has been named Cricket Director for SunRisers Hyderabad. #OrangeArmy #KeepRising. “
SRH had appointed the winning coach of the ICC World Cup in England, Trevor Bayliss, as head coach, after Moody brought the curtains on his coaching internship with SRH after the 2019 tournament.
When he left SRH as coach, Moody posted on Twitter: “It was a privilege to work for SunRisers Hyderabad, I made many friends and good memories. The success we have enjoyed over the 7 years is a testament to a team working on and off the field. Special thanks to the players, support staff and all the fans. ”
Under Bayliss, the team reached the IPL eliminators earlier this season. Bayliss is a two-time IPL-winning coach after leading the Kolkata Knight Riders to the title in 2012 and 2014.
This comes as a major addition to the already brilliant rear staff that SRH has before IPL 2021.
