Xiaomi has just launched a new e-reader, called Mi Reader Pro. It’s a massive upgrade over the original Mi Reader and comes as a direct competitor to Amazon Kindle Oasis, Paperwhite’s older brother.
The new reader comes with a large display, lots of screen customizations and voice search for faster title entry.
The display has a diagonal of 7.8 ”, with an electronic ink screen and a pixel density of 330 ppi. The LED screen illumination comes with 24-level adjustable brightness and the ability to change the color tone from warm to cold, depending on the environment, allowing for a more comfortable reading experience.
Inside there is 2 GB RAM, 32 GB storage, quad-core processor and Android Oreo 8.1 user interface. Connectivity includes Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, and the reader supports local Chinese platforms such as Baidu and WeChat Reading. Xiaomi has implemented some of Xiao AI’s own voice features to provide an easier and faster browsing experience on Mi Reader Pro.
Books can be transferred from a phone if both devices are on the same wireless network and support all well-known file formats, such as .txt, .epub, .pdf, and even Microsoft Office documents. The internal battery is 3,200 mAh, allowing up to 70 days of standby.
